Here we see Jim Lynch, inventor of the iRobot Looj discuss how the product came to be, and how they came up with the name.

in the gutter is … in the gutter is not only swett leaf you can find branches ect ect ect thanks so much
please take look mi invention the aqua wire brush.note is not fraud
For you, it seems … For you, it seems perfect, your gutter is tailored for it. I’m referring to the general concept of an efficient tool that will do all, or most gutters. This does not fit that category. The problem is, that the video purports’ an easy solution to gutter cleaning. This remote controlled whirlygig apparatus does not, and would find it a ‘ mission impossible’ for 99% of gutters. Most purchasers of this remote controlled disaster, would find it totally inadequate.
My roof starts at … My roof starts at 2.4 meters from the ground to the gutter, runs 13.4 meters horizontally, and ends with a 7.25 meter down vertical distance to the ground. Placing the looj into the gutter at the accessable 2.4 meter height seemed logical and was later proven to be the smart end of the gutter to start with.
Well mate, one … Well mate, one thing ,if you say you can’t reach the gutter, how the do you get that useless contraption up there in the first place. Assuming you have, or hire an expensive rental lift, you must have to keep relocating it to reposition this gadget when you come to internal and external corners anyway. You must also have the most accomodating gutters imaginable to facilitate the uninterupting progress of this contraption. Good for you! 99% of gutters have some impedance that does’nt .
You obviously … You obviously haven’t tried this. It works great. I live in Washington State where my high roof is 22 feet above the ground. Without an expensive rental lift, I cant even get to that gutter. With more than 200 feet per charge, I can get all my gutters in a weekend. This thing shot sludge, leaves, twigs, small pine tree sprouts and muck out of the gutter.
Dont post unless you know what you are talking about.
This is the most … This is the most ridiculous piece of junk I’ve ever come across. The limitations of this ‘ Heath Robinson’ brain dead apparatus to effectively clean gutters are endless. Anyone thinking of investing in this contraption should first consider a brain scan as a priority!
But the looj has 2 … But the looj has 2 o’s that’s gotta count for somfin rite … (I’m being facetious, just cause something is spelled incorrectly does not make it cool)
It doesnt seem … It doesnt seem practical :1) Tiles on roofs fall over the guttering, sometimes allowing a gap of 1 inch.2)Soil,stones,turf,plants etc it will cause a H&S risk,3) You have to climb up ladders to position the device.Again a H&S risk.
Solution:A service for as little as £40 .See my video .
Cool, I wish I can … Cool, I wish I can get one, that would be aussom, I hope the newer model cleans gutters better. Although, I would get 2 or even 3. because I want to make a project with the Loojs. And nice idea.
Awesome concept … Awesome concept even if it has problems right now. I understand that it has to have some limitations, but those can usually be overcome with subsequent engineering. As a published inventor myself, I do appreciate original concepts. Imagine aging baby boomers that can’t really consider moving a ladder around the house 4-5 feet at a time. This will be a great solution that enables them to do a task which they may otherwise have to hire out for. Keep up with the development. It’s a winner.
I have tested the … I have tested the Looj under many conditions. Other than a few loose, dry leaves, the Looj does not remove anything. The smallest twig stops the auger and the looj spins. It is a complete waste of money. Moreover, customer support from iRobot is the worst I have every experiences. My advice: don’t waste your money on the Looj.
