@mbyr31 yeah, this … @mbyr31 yeah, this guy whose house i’m working on now is the perfect home owner. hes been a customer of the truckstop for years and i consider it an honor to work on his house. i got an industial gojo hand washing system from him yesterday just mounted it in my truck today. i’m showing him, since he’s older, exactly what i’m doing with the pics on my phone. i’m showing him the work that was done, i did re-assure him that the work that was done previously wasn’t a complete loss.
Thats the problem … Thats the problem man. The problem with jobs such as this too is the customer usually complains about the price, therefore you get workmanship. Although, customer complaints are no reason to do work, sometimes the contractor just gets to the point where it’s like “fuck you”… And does a job. Again, that type of contractor is NOT a professional. Thats why I don’t do the small engine stuff as a business anymore. I couldn’t take the constant nagging.
Great vid man!
@Acridfusion one … @Acridfusion one trick I’ve always heard is to ALWAYS tell the customer that the job is going to take longer than you think it will, that way if there is a hold up on matterials or something you covered. Or, even better it looks like you finished before you said you would. Either way make you look better to the customer.
Just about everyone in my family either owns, or has owned, a business of some sort. So I pick up on stuff pretty easy.
@fordfanatic100 … @fordfanatic100 thanks for the comment man, ya. i’m trying to take over my dad’s business here in which i was a partner with him for a bit. so far all the material distibution companies i’ve dealt with are treating me good and offering suggestions in products and whatnot. my only issue is properly bidding jobs. i need pricelists and general labor pricing. i can do the work good, just gotta take a management class or something. wish my dad was still around to guide me.
I hear about … I hear about workmanship like that all the time. My uncle is a masonry contractor, I just helped him on one job where the “builder” was a former truck driver. lucky for him they were in a state where there is no building inspection. I could go on for hours talking about all the thing that are wrong with the house, and deck.
